We aim to find, develop, champion and provide a platform for
a community of artists, audiences and music leaders. We strive together to
transform the careers of future generations by increasing opportunity,
diversity and artistic excellence in and through jazz.
We are a ‘period instrument’ orchestra formed in 1986 specialising in music composed between the 17th and 19th Centuries (and occasionally beyond) – by composers such as Bach, Handel, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven and many, many others. We play on instruments – or replicas of instruments – from the time the music we play was written. Our sound is rooted in research and experiments to discover how these instruments were played. The result is a vivid contrast with the sounds of a ‘modern’ symphony orchestra that highlights the ongoing developments of musical language.
Harrow Music Service is delighted to have partnered with the OAE on a variety of projects including a recorder project, GCSE composition workshops and a special performance introducing the orchestra.
“Harrow Steel” is a charity steel band. We were founded in
2019 and are based in the London Borough Harrow. We create an ethos of
challenge and nurture that provides an opportunity for gifted and talented
young musicians aged 13 – 21 to learn complex music aurally within a Steel
Band.
We welcome a variety of young people from a range of
backgrounds. Our aim is to give these young people a sense of belonging, whilst
teaching leadership skills and teamwork, which will stay with those in our
community as they progress throughout their lives.
Harrow Young Musicians organises musical activities for
young people who live in and around Harrow. We welcome students of all
standards and ages to join us and offer opportunities for our students to
progress through our ensembles as they gain experience and become more advanced
musicians.
